It's funny how one day you can feel optimistic about progress, and the next day not so much. I took a look at the tracker this morning and it seems like they haven't moved much and then a message came in from Alex confirming:
Hi K. Wind has gone light and on the nose may be in Brighton Tues. Woodbridge 3-4 days after. When does the container arrive? Impatient. Can't wait to see ya!

Yesterday Alicia forwarded me a message from Bob:
This will be a quick email, Alex needs his tablet to read his book. Sailed thru the night and all day and then ran the motor for a couple of hours to charge the battery. Did so while we ate and watched some strange tv shows. Sailing again and doing 4 knots wish we had more wind but hopefully some coming. Alex is practicing with the sextant. Per his sextant calculations we are off the Cape Verde Islands which is off the African coast! Think he's going to try again... If u watch the show 'Keep Turning Left', watch the section on the Deben River and Woodbridge. It shows the town and marina where Nani will go. Hope we get wind because at some point we're just going to have to motor even if it means buying more fuel before going up the English Channel. Love and miss you, got to run, will send more later. Love bThree cheers for the motor and electronic navigation tools!
need more practice? |
Congrats on the sights Alex! Cape Verde is at least on the same side of Africa. Remember when we were setting up the Grib viewer and kept getting files for Madagascar?
ReplyDeleteMy first noon sight of the trip was way off too.
It's just practice, a steady hand, and a good watch.
